Writing Experience, Past & Present

Brandon CornettBrandon has a diverse background that adds value to the writing services we provide. He has written content for dozens of clients and a handful of former employers. Here are some of the stepping stones that led to his current role as a website content writer:

  • Freelance Content Writer: Brandon worked as a freelance content writer under the name of Austin SEO Guy. This was before we relocated our company from Austin to San Diego, hence the name. He wrote content for clients in a wide range of industries, from real estate to medical. He currently performs in this role.
  • SEO Writer, Intra-Focus: Before starting his own company, Brandon worked as the SEO product manager for an Internet-marketing firm called Intra-Focus. In this role he wrote a variety of content ranging from articles to press releases. He also worked closely with clients to improve their website optimization, link popularity, and other SEO-related factors.
  • Website Project Manager, Ginny’s Printing: Ginny’s is one of the largest commercial printing companies in the United States. They serviced a number of top-tier clients, including Dell Computers and Whole Foods. Brandon worked for the company as a website project manager. It was his job to oversee the launch of a web-based postcard printing service. He also wrote a wealth of content for an educational website designed to attract customers.
  • Marketing Writer, QuantumDigital: This was where Brandon found his true calling as a website content writer. He initially served as an advertising copywriter, writing copy for magazine ads, brochures and direct mail pieces. But more and more, he found himself gravitating toward the company’s website. He rewrote much of the content within the company’s online ordering process, to improve usability and reduce customer-service calls. And thus, a web writer was born!
  • Technical Writer, U.S. Navy: During one of his tours in the military, Brandon served as a technical writer for a fleet maintenance-support center located in San Diego. In this role, he wrote summaries of highly technical maintenance projects, to make them more accessible to “the brass.”

You can see that Brandon has a wealth of experience with writing in general, and website content in particular. He can handle any and all of your writing needs — articles, tutorials, press releases, blog posts and more. Please contact us with any questions you have about our services.

Website Content Training & Education

Skill is the byproduct of training and experience. Fortunately, Brandon has had plenty of both. He has received professional training from some of the sharpest minds in the Internet-marketing world. Here are some of his training highlights that relate to website writing:

  • Brandon has received training in website usability from the folks at Creative Good (www.creativegood.com). Usability is the art and science of making a website easier to use. All website content writers should be trained in usability, but few of them actually are. Brandon is one of the rare exceptions.
  • Brandon has attended a number of educational seminars and workshops sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). He has completed the “Fundamental Copywriting and Creative Strategies” course, SEO workshops, direct marketing seminars and more.
  • Brandon has received numerous training certifications through the International Webmasters Association (IWA), including an intensive 6-week course on website content writing.

Brandon also hones his skills by reading voraciously on subjects relating to web content. Current titles on his bookshelf include Content Critical by Gerry McGovern, Hot Text by Lisa and Jonathan Price, and the Yahoo Style Guide. Brandon is a professional writer who takes education seriously.
