Definition - Google AdWords

AdWords is Google's pay-per-click search engine advertising program. Entire books have been written on the subject of Google AdWords, because it's a complex topic. But I'll give you a brief overview to help you decide whether or not it's something to investiage further.

AdWords is Not SEO
AdWords is a type of search engine marketing, but it has little to do with search engine optimization. With SEO, pages appear in search results because of things like link popularity, relevance, domain age, etc. But with AdWords, websites appear in search results because they have paid to be there.

The only reason I include Google AdWords in my glossary is because it's one of the virtual training modules I offer.
